From this Thursday, refueling costs significantly less. The Government bonus has been reduced from 18 to 30 cents per liter of fuel for the months of September and October. Added to this is the 20 cent TotalEnergies discount available at all stations (Total and Total Access).
Combined with that of the government, therefore, it saves 50 cents per liter of fuel. This additional discount allows TotalEnergies to offer cheaper fuel than supermarkets such as Carrefour, E.Leclerc or Auchan. never seen.
A situation that makes Michel-Edouard Leclerc, the head of the E.Leclerc centers, tremble. Invited to franceinfo this Thursday morning, the latter criticized Total’s “agreement with public authorities”, which allows it to avoid a possible tax on its huge profits generated by the rise in oil prices linked to the war in Ukraine by making a move towards lower prices.
“We ask that you give us the same conditions”
Michel-Edouard Leclerc considers himself wronged and asks Total to sell his fuel to distributors, including the 20 cent discount, so that everyone can benefit from it.
“I wrote last night to Mr. Pouyanné, the CEO of Total. Because in the arrangement with the public authorities there is a counterpart of not taxing profits, he normally offers a discount of 20 cents for all his clients. However, in fact, it gives a discount of 20 cents to customers in its network, but not to those in our networks. However, Total is a very large French supplier”, regrets Michel-Edouard Leclerc.
“We ask that you give us the same conditions. Clients Leclerc, Carrefour, Avia, small suppliers that sell Total must be in Mr. Pouyanné’s promise”, he added.
