Corsair chief launches Air France’s rise abroad

In BFM Business, Pascal de Izaguirre, CEO criticizes the “overcapacity policy” of the national airline.

Like many airlines, France’s Corsair is benefiting from a strong recovery in traffic, so its connections to the DOM-TOMs show more passengers than before the covid crisis.

But for its chief executive, in addition to the specter of skyrocketing costs, particularly for kerosene, another danger looms, that of Air France’s rise abroad.

“It is not a very sustainable development”

On the set of Good night business, Pascal de Izaguirre gets angry. “Air France has always served the DOM-TOMs, the problem is that they have entered into a policy of overcapacity completely unrelated to the natural growth of traffic.”

And to assert: “we do not expect airlines to carry empty seats on long-haul lines.”
