In a civil sentence issued on September 1, the Deliveroo company was sentenced to pay 9.6 million euros in arrears of social security contributions and an increase to Urssaf for the undercover work violation, it was learned BFM-TV with the Paris court.
Last July, the food delivery platform was sentenced to criminal charges for “hidden work”. The company was attacked for failing to consider the delivery men to be full-fledged employees and for asking them to declare themselves self-employed. The Court of Appeal had considered, on the contrary, that there was indeed a relationship of subordination between the platform and the couriers that should have forced the company to pay them wages.
Arrears contributions
The Urssaf had appeared before the court of Paris, in a civil process, to claim the arrears of social contributions and unpaid contributions from Deliveroo. Therefore, the court has just ruled in their favor by condemning Deliveroo to pay 6,431,276 euros in arrears, 2,489,570 euros for additional recovery increases and the amount of 756,033 euros for increases in arrears. That is a total of 9,676,879 euros.
