Herbal teas from Savoy now Dutch. The Haute-Savoie SME “Les 2 Marmottes”, which makes teas and infusions of the same name, has been bought by the Dutch coffee giant Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE), reveals LSA Console. The group, which owns the Café Grand’Mère, L’or, Maxwell, Jacques Vabre, Tassimo and Senseo brands, will take over the Bons-en-Chablais company and its 90 employees.
“In order to preserve all its uniqueness, its know-how as well as its strong growth dynamics, the company Les 2 Marmottes will continue to operate autonomously and independently,” promises JDE, quoted by the specialized magazine.
20 million euros of turnover
The current leader of the “2 Marmottes”, Christian Polge, will soon be replaced. A former head of Coca-Cola France, he was named CEO of the company when it was taken over by the investment fund French Food Capital in 2018.
Betting on “100% vegetable” infusions made in France and unconventional marketing, the “2 Marmottes” have settled comfortably in recent years in a market that, however, is very busy. A new effective strategy for the brand created in 1976, which allows it to leave Haute-Savoie to conquer France. The company invoiced 20 million euros in 2021.
