In recent days, the Ministry of Economy has accelerated the bureaucratic formalities necessary to be able to start the segmentation of tariffs and the removal of subsidies according to thel income and consumption of users.

In between, there was change of officials and, for example, only on Friday it was established by resolution that those who have a social rate will be included in the registry and their subsidies will not be removed, in addition to the fact that the new ones have been officially appointed mayors of ENRE and Enargasthe bodies for regulating electricity and gas, which are the ones that technically determine the tariffs.

Thus, the electricity distributors try set the values of the next invoiceswhich will come with increases for high-income users not registered in the registry (level 1), and for those who exceed (and for the deductible) the maximum of 400 kWh per month (or 550 kWh if it is an area where there is no mains gas), which are included in level 3. Level 2 is what will keep your entire ballot subsidized.

In this exercise of anticipation how much each will have to pay next and subsequent months (because the removal of subsidies will be staggered), it is essential to know your monthly consumption and, based on that consumption, to which category of customer you belong.

Next, what the invoices would look like initially of the first phase of removing subsidies (by 20%) for consumers in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires:

The government has refused to talk about percentage increases and has always appealed to net data. According to official and corporate data, Tier 1 customers in the lowest category, R1, consuming up to 100 kW and paying $ 650 per month today will go for $ 1,000. an increase of $ 350 or 53% in this first phase.

At the other end, R9 customers using 1,400KWh and paying a $ 14,000 bill today they will pay $ 19,000 with the total removal of subsidies (35% up) or $ 17,500 (25% up) if they are level 2 and keep up to 400 kWh subsidized.

At the time, the Ministry of Energy had published a table with estimates of the increases in the bill in the various provinces, but only with consumption of 300 kWh.

From November there will be a reduction of another 40% in subsidies. But there are still no projections as to what the bills will look like from then on, nor from January when the scheme is finally completed and higher-income customers start paying full price.

Although there is an estimate, the number of people who will remain within each level not yet finalbecause there are many users who have not registered and who nevertheless meet the requirements to continue to receive official aid on the electricity bill, such as having a social rate or having a certificate of disability.
