This implies a further step in the rate segmentation that came into effect this month – which is carried out by the Secretary of Energy led by Flavia Royón – and which will have an impact in nearly 15 million homes around the country.

Users are divided into three levels: Level 1, the one with the highest income that will suffer a 20% reduction in this first phase, and at the end of the trip they will be left without state aid. Level 2, which is associated with the social rate and will keep the benefits in their entirety. And level 3, those with middle income who will lose their benefits in a certain percentage.

Level 1 users are those who have submitted the Affidavit and based on the income of their family group that they were more than $ 350,000 a month, they lose their entire subsidy.

With resolutions 313/2022 and 314/2022, published in the Official Gazette, the “Tariff to be applied for level 1 residential users and other tariff categories”. That is, for those who have high incomes and who will lose their benefits.

In turn, the resolutions that talk about the tariffs of both Edenor and Edesur indicate that “for users Level 2 and 3 residential buildings continue to apply the tariff set by ENRE Resolution no. 221/2022 “.

The new set of frames increases in the value you pay based on the energy consumed, but they remain fixed prices by user category.

What would the new electricity tariffs look like?

The maximum increases are estimated between 31 and 48% depending on the category and consumption of each user. For example, according to a comparative table prepared by DEUCO (Defense of users and consumers) for the category R1 (users who consume up to 150 kWh per month) the estimated increase will be 48% and for the category R8 (i.e. from 701 to 1400 kWh per month) the increase will reach 35.11%.

In this way, according to the comparative table prepared by the consumer association, for an R1 who currently pays a bill $ 733.04 will pay $ 1,086.14 with the new rates.

For an R3 whose consumption is up to 400 kWh, the bill will increase by about $ 900 pesos, ie from the current $ 2,035.15 to $ 2,977.15 what would happen to pay

The examples developed by DEUCO concern the invoices of Edenor customers and are based on resolution 313/2020 published on Friday in the Official Gazette.
