As has happened in recent weeks, the Tire union (SUTNA) announced new force measures for Thursday and Friday in the three factories located in the country, although this time in a disparate way and with different levels of compliance.

To the wage conflict that has been spreading for more than four months, the guild that leads Alessandro Crespo has now added a complaint for “racial discrimination “ at the Bridgestone factory, where it was decided to stop 48 hours straight.

On the other two floors, Destiny and Pirelliit was also decided to quit, but eight hours a day. While the force measurement took place at the Fate de San Fernando plant, it was there for the whole of Thursday at Pirelli “normal activity”according to industry sources regarding the plant located in the municipality of Merlo.

The conflict between the union and the tire manufacturers began in late April and is already approaching 20 work stoppages, not counting factory assemblies. This situation, added to the import restriction due to the lack of dollars, it is generating shortages and delays to take the tires. In principle, this lack of supply affects the replacement market, but it also generates noise gates inside the car terminals.

SUTNA asks for a wage rebalancing 5% above the estimated annual inflation at the end of July, and even one 200% increase in hours worked on weekends. The commercial proposal, at the end of April, provided for a further re-composition of 16%to close the joint 2021/2022 a 66%. They also offered “improvement” mechanisms for hours worked on weekends, but far from the 200% claimed by SUTNA.

After countless hearings at the Ministry of Labor, week after week, both the companies and the union have each maintained their position and, for the moment, no solution in sighta. But in between, the conflict is gone changing shape. what was a conformity without cracks visible during the first two months, in recent weeks it has given rise to discussions between union leaders and at least part of the 5,000 workers who work between the three factories.

Failure to resolve the conflict after four months where the accumulated inflation exceeds 30%is generating a wage arrears by workers in the sector. In addition to the failure to update the salary, there is the decision of the companies to deduct the days not worked due to force measures.

That disparity manifested itself again this Thursday. While in Fate and Bridgestone the measurement of force was carried out, in Pirelli the activity of the factory would have been normal. The second day of protest will take place this Friday.

According to what SUTNA denounced before the Ministry of Labor, in Bridgestone a hierarchical employee approached the deputy secretary of the union and manager of that factory, Edoardo Mansillaand said “you come from another ethnicity“And” I shouldn’t talk to you or be in the same place with you. ” After that, according to the union complaint, the company “instead of declaring itself against this aberration, Comrade Eduardo is not allowed to enter the plantfulfilling the threat of the discriminator “.
