“He died peacefully, calmly, at ease and loved”reported the family who in these hours asked for respect and privacy.

In the mid-1970s, Levene – who was just 18 – teamed up with manager Bernard Rhodes to form The Clash, his own punk band. A group that also included guitarist Mick Jones and bassist Paul Simonon.

Furthermore, at the time of its creation, Levene asked Joe Strummer – who was the leader of The 101ers at the time – to join his new project, thus giving birth to the famous punk rock group.

According to the BBC, after news of her death was released, her close friend Adam Hammond said Levene had been battling cancer for two years but that her death had been unexpected.

“I had many projects and was doing many things,” said Hammond, who revealed that, among them, he had completed a book on Public Image Ltd and was working on music to accompany the publication.
