The Kennedy Choir turns 40 and celebrates it with the lead singer of AC/DC

The Kennedy Choir will celebrate on Tuesday November 15, in the Golden Hall of the Buenos Aires Legislature, its 40 years of artistic and charity career with a concert in which Guillermo Guido, Manuela Bravo, Nancy Anka and Dave Evans will perform as soloists, lead singer of the heavy metal band AC/DCwho has resided in the country since 2018.

After 40 years of experience, the Kennedy Choir finds him currently active as one of the most popular and numerous vocal ensembles in Argentina. With performances in several countries of America and Europe, she has shared the stage with artists of the stature of Mercedes Sosa, Charly Garcia, Ricky Martin, Fabiana Cantilo, Ricardo MontanerEnrique Iglesias, Los Chalchaleros, Alejandro Lerner, Soledad, María Marta Serra Lima and Juan Carlos Baglietto, among others.

In addition to his important artistic career, the Kennedy Choir is known for its strong social commitment. You have actively participated in massive marches for justice and human rights and participated in global campaigns to fight AIDS and in various demonstrations for children’s rights, organized by UNICEF.

In turn, she participated in well-known and publicized social causes such as the White Tent for teachers, the activities of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, the relatives of the victims of the AMIA attack and the Mothers of Sorrow.

His journey through four decades

Created as a group by Kennedy University in 1982, the choral group he began by singing a songbook of popular music that were defining his current repertoire.

In 1983, the year of the return of democracy, he made himself known by performing successfully at the Luna Park and in the Salón Dorado of the Teatro Colón. In this way, the Kennedy Choir was gaining popularity for both its vocal quality and its careful playing.

Its director was incorporating creative choreography and actors into choral practices that took the group out of the choral circuit and into new spaces, such as mass media and, among these, in particular, television.

When the choir was ten years old, in 1992 they made their debut together with Jairo ten million children, unpublished work by Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer, at the Teatro Opera. In 1996 he started the Rutas del alma project, with charity performances in different parts of the country and which earned him national recognition. The success of this initiative earned him the recording of his second album, paths of the soul.

In 1997, Fritzche recorded the album with the choir along with 75 guest artists The day afterfor the benefit of the flooded Corrientes and Chaco.

On the one hand it entered the Guinness Book of Records for the number of guests who participated in the works and on the other 10,000 plaques were sold which made it possible to raise a considerable sum of money which was entirely destined for the cities of Goya, Corrientes and Roque Sáenz Peña, in the Chaco.

In 1999, the choir held the first internet choral concert which allowed them to transcend borders and in 2006 he was certified gold for his production Choral Beatlesthe first choral music CD entirely based on the Beatles’ repertoire.

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Kennedy Choir was recognized as a Cultural Heritage by Unesco for its artistic, solidarity, social and cultural journey.
