The event has the name of dance for peaceit was first launched in 2014 and has been an initiative since the very beginning dedicated to fundraising for Unicef. The impetus was given thanks to the Colombo dancer Leonardo Royalalso choreographer and that to this day is responsible for this project.

Although the first gala took place in 2014, Reale counts 17 editions in total among the many made outside Buenos Aires and also from Argentina. This year is especially important because it is a meeting with the public after two years of imprisonment.

is an extensive programmeof which we can only highlight – by number of works that will be seen – four moments, united by the fact that they are works as stupendous as they are successful by the four official companies.

First, the Ballet del Colón – directed by Mario Gallizzi– chose the last scene of “Onegin”, a tremendously moving work by British choreographer John Cranko, to be performed by Camila Bocca and Federico Fernandez.

Another moving scene is the one chosen for the Gala by the San Martín Contemporary Ballet –director, Andrea Chinetti- and which is part of “Songs” by the Italian Mauro Bigonzetti. The central characters are Lucía Barbado, David Millán and Andrés Ortiz.

Both scenes, both “Onegin” as the “Songs”, they speak very well of tears of love.

In abstraction one also dances

In a much more abstract but no less powerful field, it is necessary to place “Space Tension”, great piece that could be seen a thousand times with the same admiration. There is perfection, beauty and intensity in this work assembled by Korean choreographer Jae Duk Kim (for the National Contemporary Dance Company directed by Margarita Fernández): it was 2015, when the relationship between Argentina and Korea celebrated 50 years.

The National Folkloric Ballet, which today is in charge of Analía Domizzi, presents a premiere of this season and will be the first tribute of the evening: “Mercedes, woman, voice and people”work by choreographer and dancer Candelaria Torres dedicated to Mercedes Sosa on the 87th anniversary of her birth.

And that’s not all: the versatile Facu Mazzei with a world premiere piece; the Cadabra Group, the scenic tango couple Marcos Ayala and Paola Camacho, the Compagnia in Movimento, the Kunst Dance Company, the folkloric company “La Biaba”, from Rosario, with a work with a coastal atmosphere, and the Ballet Danza por la Paz, formed with young dancers from all over the country.

The second tribute of the evening is dedicated to the Argentine dancer Jorge Donn, on the thirtieth anniversary of his death. The choreography was created by Guido De Benedetti on music by Maurice Ravel and the performers are Franco Cadelago, Ariel Caramés, Sofía Sciaratta, Nestor Pastorive and the Kunst Dance Company.

Leonardo Reale says: “This tribute to Jorge Donn is particularly significant for me; I was nine when I saw him dance in the movie One and the other and it was that moment that decided my vocation for dance”.
