Bradley Cooper will star in Spielberg’s next film, a remake of Bullitt

Bradley Cooper and Steven Spielberg have a shared project on their hands. The actor will star in the director’s next film, bullitt. The film will be based on the story of Frank Bullitt’s character, a San Francisco cop played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 action thriller of the same name.

Josh Singer (same librettist for The Post: The Pentagon’s Dark Secrets Y On the first pageor Reflector) is writing the script for the new version of the film, which is currently in development at Warner Bros.. While plot details haven’t been revealed, the remake is expected to show Bullitt looking completely different from the original McQueen.

Warner Bros. is the same production company that distributed the original film, directed by Peter Yates. bullitt it was based, in turn, on the 1963 novel Mute witness. The character of the policeman has become Steve McQueen’s most iconic role. His role was that of a detective investigating the death of a mob informant, the same one he had been tasked with protecting.

The film became known for including one of the most iconic and thrilling car chases in cinematic history with McQueen doing his own stunts in a modified Ford Mustang for the scenes. bullitt was a critical and commercial success and, on a budget of $4 million, generated $42 million in box office receipts.

Separately, Cooper will also produce alongside Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger, marking their second collaboration following the Leonard Bernstein biopic, Teacher. Additionally, McQueen’s son Chad McQueen and granddaughter Molly McQueen will serve as executive producers on the project. It has not yet been determined whether it will bear the same title as the original.

Steve McQueen was one of the stars of the big screen in the late 70’s when he became the highest paid actor in Hollywood. First made popular by the series Randall the vigilante and, later, for starring in films like The Magnificent Seven, Bullitt, Le Mans, The Escape, Papillon And hell in the toweramong many others.

Spielberg, who had worked on the development of Teacher for several years he was the one who encouraged Cooper to direct and star in the film after seeing the directorial debut of the actor in the blockbuster A star was born.
