Guillermo del Toro premieres his Pinocchio and receives an honorary doctorate

Mexican Guillermo del Toro can add an academic degree to his glittering film career after being recognized with an honorary doctorate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Meanwhile, his most recent film Pinocchiowill be released this Thursday in theaters in Argentina and will arrive on Netflix in December.

The director received recognition from Mexican writer Rosa Beltrán at the UNAM facilities in the city of Los Angeles. During the ceremony, in direct contact with the rest of the personalities also recognized by the University at the Mining Palace in Mexico City, Del Toro thanked the Rector Enrique Graue Wiechers.

According to the Mexican director, Fundamental is the cultural work carried out by the public university, which is free and recognized worldwide for its contribution to knowledge.

His career

Del Toro was born in Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco, on October 9, 1964. He studied at the Center for Research and Film Studies of the University of Guadalajara, where he graduated in 1983 and was also a professor.
