Rape complaint

The decision of the directors of the chain derives from the complaint filed yesterday Friday by a 39-year-old woman, who identified herself as Shannon “Shay” Ruth.

After filing the complaint in court, Ruth held a press conference at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. There she said that she had filed a lawsuit against her together with three other victims who had preferred not to reveal their identities, but who, like her, They claimed they were raped by Carter when they were minors.

This was stated by the woman, who claimed to live with autism and cerebral palsy the abuse occurred in February 2001 during a Backstreet Boys concert in the city of Tacoma, Washington.

According to the complaint, that day the artist invited the then 17-year-old to get on the band’s tour bus when he saw her in line to sign an autograph, and once inside he forced her to drink alcoholic beverages, took them to bed, physically assaulted and raped.

“The past 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm that are a direct result of the rape of Nick Carter,” Ruth tearfully said as she recalled the event, adding, “After he raped me I remember him calling me ‘retarded bitch’ and grabbing me and leaving bruises on my arm.”

Ruth added that as a result of the sexual assault, she too was infected with human papillomavirus (HPV), as were the other three complainants.

It is not the first time that the musician has received accusations of this type, given that in 2017 he was reported for rape by singer Melissa Schuman, despite not having brought criminal consequences for Carter.
