The song, catchy to the core and repeated like a mantra throughout, has a very special version by the Teatro Colón Children’s Choir.

A few hours ago a video was released in which the boys and girls of the Choir sing harmoniously, obviously in tune, the theme of La Mosca back in football mode and which does not stop playing. The most curious thing is that it all happened in less than 24 hours.

“Everything was fast, amazing and beautiful”

That’s how he tells it César Bustamante, director of the Choir in which 27 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 participate. “Everything was very fast and surprising and beautiful,” says Bustamente. “The best thing is that they are the same boys who sing the ‘nut flakes’ fragment from the ballet The Nutcracker“.

In the video, the group can be seen singing, running and waving flags in the Sala d’Oro of the Teatro Colón as they sing an absolutely angelic version of the song that resonates, with another register, in the voices of the fans on the pitch, in the streets during the celebrations and in that of the same players of the national team, including Lionel Messi himself.

According to Bustamente, a few days ago, the boys were in full rehearsal for The Nutcracker when the Colón’s chief of staff, Paz Dubarry and the Teatro’s press officer, Hugo García, called him to ask if he could take a break so the boys could sing the song and record the video.

“I thought it was something for a soundtrack, I never imagined it would be for the World Cup theme but I didn’t hesitate, especially for them because I knew they would like it.” So on Wednesday she summoned the young people from the choir an hour earlier, to try out the new version of Boys.

“I sat at the piano and everyone stood around them, I dictated to them what each of the three voices should do and they immediately improvised. In an hour they had already incorporated the song,” says the director. “I am surprised and amazed at how they did it in such a short time, at the professionalism and passion they put into it”.

Bustezza assures that only the first voice repeats the lyrics that we all have engraved in our heads and that Bangladeshi fans also repeat (even if they don’t understand the lyrics). But otherwise, the task was to imitate the sounds of different instruments.

Video

What followed was the video recording. For this, the boys themselves wore hats, flags, headbands, trumpets and painted their faces with the colors of the Argentine flag, all with pure spontaneity, joy and passion. “For almost everyone, especially for the younger ones, it’s the first World Cup, or at least the first one I know about,” points out Bustamente.

In the Golden Hall, the Colón Digital team took care of the making of the video that it only took a few takes to complete. The choir director’s request was that they sing it like a murga and enjoy it as if they were in the field. The boys stamped it and in 40 minutes it was ready.

“I think this is a sign that the Teatro Colón is also permeable to more popular feelings and, on the other hand, a choir is always a model of people who come together to coordinate together, breathe and sing together and this is a moment a lot of communion and joy”, says Bustamente.

The happiness that the boys and girls convey in the video is just as they experienced it inside the Colón, preparing and recording their version of the success. “The boys were already coming to the rehearsals of The Nutcracker with the Argentine shirt”, says Bustamente. “This national team, even for those who are not so passionate about football, has given us an enormous joy that we needed so much and that can also be seen here”.

As the director says, music unites, accepts diversity and is universal, which is why the theme composed by La Mosca, now reversible, was so striking in this particular moment. “For everyone, making the video was a unique experience. Personally I never imagined living it and it was a pleasant surprise. The choir boys are fantastic and have transmitted a beautiful energy,” he admits.

For his part, the singer of La Mosca, Guillermo Novellis, creator of the song that is listened to non-stop, was moved by what the boys of the Coro del Colón did, surprised once again by the repercussion of the catchy Guys, now we are excited again…which has already been registered in the collective unconscious.
