Thus Sunday will begin on Argentine television with the voices of the great protagonists of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup final.

The change in Qatar 2022

It should be remembered that, until Russia 2018, the Argentine national anthem was heard without words, because FIFA limits each country’s anthems to 90 seconds. That’s why the Albiceleste was used to hearing only the introduction without text.

Thus, before the most emotional part was omitted, which is now heard in the stadiums of Qatar 2022, where for the first time at the World Cup Lionel Messi was seen singing the words at the top of his lungs.

The change came after Russia 2018 and the elimination of Argentina in the round of 16, when the team was led by Jorge Sampaoli and now coach Lionel Scaloni and his assistant Pablo Aimar have requested this small but significant change from FIFA.

Thus it was that from an Under 20 tournament in Valencia, Spain, the Argentina national team began to listen to the most emotional part of its anthem, the one that has the text and ends with an epic section: “…crowned with glory we live or we swear with glory to die!”

While this part of the anthem was also heard in the 2019 Copa América, as well as the 2021 Copa América where Argentina were champions, Qatar 2022 is the first World Cup to include the anthem with lyrics.
