Just like there are those who take many of their tricks home from work, Travis Block (Liam Neesonrepeatedly transformed into an action hero) also instructs his granddaughter to be watched or followed by strangers and to check for escape exits.
Well, he may be a little paranoid, but he’s also obsessive compulsive. Let’s say everything.
It’s inside? Secret AgentNeeson – who is already 70 years old, ten years younger than Harrison Fordand as much as he says he’ll abandon the genre, after a while he backs down – he works for his friend the FBI director (Aidan Quinn, from Benny & Joon, Hearts in conflict). Travis obviously has a dark past. For years, he’s been dedicated to extracting undercover agents. Or do things that, legally, um, would be hard to explain or disguise.
But the new mission puts him on extreme alert. Travis begins to sense, and then discovers, that his friend from the FBI is plotting unholy things against US citizens (oops).
Everything from a request to deal with Dusty Crane (Taylor John Smith, seen in sharp objectsS). Crane alternates alcohol and pills, but it is not known whether he takes to forget or vice versa. There was a recent event that marked him, and he is willing to tell the truth to journalism.
Those are good American citizens.
Therefore, the plot of the film by Mark Williams will start from the escape of Crane and the attempt to meet Mira Jones (Emmy Raver-Lampman of The Umbrella Academy), to tell him everything, to Travis who takes care of him.
As in many of the action films with Neeson, from Relentless research (2008) to this day, his character has a strong bond with his family -if he has any living member left-. Here she is with his daughter (Claire Van Der Boom), who is divorced, and the niece we mentioned earlier (Gabriella Sengos).
Clicks, chases and track list
All this to humanize, if the term fits among so many persecutions, shots, deaths, ambushes and betrayals, to Travis.
Because Travis may have done bad things, but always, always, there’s time to redeem himself. And to get away from hard work and spend more and better time with girls than he does.
Who does not?
But his friend from the FBI won’t accept his withdrawal, and that’s where he sends him after Crane.
The rest is more or less to be expected, if you’ve seen the occasional Neeson flick with a gun in hand. There are many well-filmed chases, and the casualties number in the dozens.
Neeson returns to work with director Mark Williams, who directed him relentless vengeance (2020), where he was a bank robber who decided to turn himself in, but was betrayed by two FBI agents.
You can see that between Neeson and Williams and those FBI guys there is something personal.
