Ginny & Georgia 2: the pearls of this series considered the new Gilmore Girls

It looked like it happened with John and Georgiaa Netflix original story released in February 2021 and that exceeded the expectations of the platform itself, leading the ranking of the most viewed in the United States and in 45 other countries.

After that successful debut season, the serve stream reported that there would be a second installment. But fans of the series have had to wait for the postponements of the pandemic. A almost two years after their debut, the new ten chapters arrive on Netflix this Thursday 5 January.

The plot of this series –many described it as the new one Gilmore Girls-, focuses on the complicated relationship between Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey), a young and immature mother, and her daughter Ginny (Antonia Gentry), a 15-year-old teenager who behaves more adult and mature than her and who doesn’t she usually empathizes with boys her age.

Georgia had Ginny when she was 15 and has managed to escape poverty thanks to her manipulative nature. When she decides to move to New England, she does so hoping to settle down with Ginny and her other son, Austin (Diesel La Torraca), and give them a better life than she had.

Ginny is now in a good school and could enjoy a full social life. But She is an African-American girl trying to fit into a predominantly white city.. Also, her mother’s past is always there, haunting her. And the present is just as toxic: Georgia can’t help but get everyone’s attention.

in the key of old-fashioned comedy-drama mixing mystery, intrigue and suspense, John and Georgia reflects on adolescence, coming of age and young motherhood.

Through Ginny and her forays into new friendships and romance, the story also addresses issues of race, class, and identity. Netflix defines it as an authentic, real and relatable portrait of what it’s like to be a young mother and teenager today.

A surprise ending and what’s to come

The end of the first season of John and Georgia shocked everyone: Ginny discovers that her mother actually killed her ex-husband and leaves home with her brother Austin. Did he escape? Where was he?

They are some of the questions that will be revealed starting this Thursday. For now, Netflix’s official synopsis asks another question: “How can you live knowing your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny will have to find out.”the platform communicated.

She adds: “Shocked by the news that her stepfather, Kenny, didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny has to not only deal with the fact that Georgia is a murderer, but also with he did it to protect her”.

In that close, we also saw how Georgia celebrates that sboyfriend Paul is elected mayor of the city. But it is not yet known how he reacts to the certainty that her daughter has fled after discovering her secret. “Georgia would have preferred to leave the past behind. Created, written and produced by Sarah Lampert, the second season of John and Georgia it will now have ten episodes much of its cast back: Jennifer Robertson (Ellen), Felix Mallard (Marcus), Sara Waisglass (Maxine), Scott Porter (Mayor Paul Randolph), Raymond Ablack (Joe), Katie Douglas (Abby), Nathan Mitchell (Zion) and Chelsea Clark (Norah) ), among others.

They are joined by Aaron Ashmore, from the Netflix series Lock key-, who will play Gil Timmons, a native of Georgia and father of her second child, Austin.
