With the Próspero Molina square and the Atahualpa Yupanqui stage as the epicenter of activities, this Saturday (January 21) begins a new edition of the Cosquín Festival that will last until January 29, in the city of Cordoba.
This will be the 63rd edition of the traditional Festival which, among other things, will pay tribute to two folk artists, on the centenary of their birth: guitarist Eduardo Falú (1923-2013) and Tarragó Ros (1923-1978), and father of the famous musician Antonio Tarragó Ros. To these festivities will also be added another tribute to the great poet Hamlet Lima Quintana (1923-2002), also for its centenary.
Among the artists who have confirmed their participation in the traditional Festival, there will be for today’s inauguration, Jairo, Juan Falú, Horacio Lavandera; Juan Fuentes, Yamila Cafrune, Postcards of the Province (Chaco), Por Siempre Tucu, Martín Paz and El Indio Lucio Rojas.
In the case of the guitarist and composer from Salta, Eduardo Falú, there will be at least three instances to pay homage to him, in a series that will begin during today’s inaugural moon where there will be a set of Jairo and Juan Falúnephew of the award-winning, where two of his most popular creations will be heard: The swallows Y melody of old loveboth with lyrics by his compatriot Jaime Dávalos.
So, this Monday (23), at 18:00, in the Auditorium of the Congress Center, the singer and cultural manager Juan Martín Di Salvo will talk about the musician under the title The Knight of the Guitarwith Guillermo Dezi Codaro, Andrea Bobán and Juan Murúa as guests.
“Falú is a total artist, comparable only to Carlos Gardel. There is no other figure capable of being so versatile and so brilliant in every artistic facet”, says Di Salvo, who in Cosquín begins a series of interviews to evaluate the figure of the artist born July 7, 1923 and died August 9, 2013.
Finally, on Wednesday (25th), the delegation from Salta will dedicate its participation in Cosquín to the immense work of the guitarist who united him with poets such as Manuel J. Castilla, Osiris Rodríguez Castillos, León Benarós, Hamlet Lima Quintana, Marta Mendicute, Ernesto Sábato and Jorge Luis Borges.
For his part, even on the night of the 25th, Antonio Tarragó Ros will be in charge of honoring another centenary: that of his father, known as the King of Chamamé, which he also honored days ago at the Chamamé Festival in Corrientes.
Tarragó Ros father (June 19, 1923 – April 15, 1978)composed about 200 songs (recorded in 19 albums), including, The Broken Heart, Because You’re Gone, The Prisoner, Madrecita, Caña con rue, The Afflicted Y Constitution Villawhich are part of the coastal musical heritage.
As for the rest of the grid, La Callejera, Sofía Assis, Tribute to the centenary of Borgo Lima Quintana, Province Postcards (Tucumán and Catamarca), Belén Herrera, Orellana-Lucca, Los Carabajal; while on Monday 23 they will perform Facundo Toro, La Charo, Postales de Provincia (Jujuy and Córdoba), Micaela Chauque, Ceibo, Guitarreros, Los Tekis, Los Pacheco and Los Caligaris.
For Tuesday 24 they appear Luis Salinas, Lito Vitale, María Fernanda Juárez, Carolina Del Carmen Peleritti, Horacio Banegas, Los Alonsitos and the Duo Coplanacu; while on the 25th it will be the turn of Destino San Javier, Bruja Salguero, Postales de Provincia (Salta), Los Nocheros and Ahyre and the presence of Antonio Tarrago Ros in homage to the centenary of his father, known as the King of Chamamé.
Thursday 26, Raly Barrionuevo, Roxana Carabajal, Maguie Cullen, Pocho Sosa, Adrián Maggi, tribute to Oscar “Cacho” Valles and Jorge Rojas; and the following night they will perform with Mario Álvarez Quiroga, Alma Carpera, Postales de Provincia (La Rioja and Santa Cruz), Eduardo Guajardo, Los 4 de Córdoba, Sergio Galleguillo and El Chaqueño Palavecino.
The last two traditional “moons” of Cosquín will bring together, on the 28th, Leandro Lovato, Nacha Roldán, Delegation of Japan, Laura Molina, Magalí Juarez, Nahuel Pennisi, Emiliano Zerbini; Loneliness; and at the close of Sunday 29 in Néstor Garnica, Postales de Provincia (Santiago del Estero and Santa Fe), Lucía Ceresani, Flor Paz, Franco Luciani and Abel Pintos.
As usual, the music will also be present in every corner of the city of Val Punilla and in the clubs that expand and prolong what takes shape on the main stage every evening.
In addition, every day there will be a cycle of talks, conferences and documentaries based in the Adalberto Nogués Microcine of the Congress and Convention Center (Tucumán 1031) and the Augusto Raúl Cortázar Crafts and Popular Art Fair will be exhibited in the Plaza San Martín.
Plaza San Martín will be one of the venues for the workshops and will also receive, between Thursday 26 and Sunday 29 from 7pm, a Cosquín for children with the show by Sofy.
