The Argentine director Juan José Campanella, winner of an Oscar for The secret in their eyes in 2010, he told EFE news agency on Tuesday his delight at Argentina’s nomination, 1985by Santiago Mitre, at the Hollywood Academy Awards which will be presented in March 2023.
“That Argentina, 1985 being nominated for an Oscar is a very good thing for everyone, I am very satisfied“, he stressed shortly before attending the opening of the fifth Ibero American Film Festival in Miami (IAFFM).
In a few brief statements to EFE, Campanella hoped that the production of Mitre, which he defined “a good movie with a stellar cast”is being revived in commercial theaters in Argentina now that it is nominated for an Oscar for best international film.
In his opinion, It’s been in theaters for too little time.because a few weeks after its premiere has joined the offer of the Amazon Prime Video platform.
An Argentinian awarded in Miami
Son of the Bride director is in Miami for the tribute that will be paid to him on Wednesday by the fifth edition of the Ibero American Film Festival in Miami (IAFFM), with the screening of two of his films: those chosen for the tribute are the tale of the weasels (2019) e table football (2013).
Campanella won the Oscar in 2010 in the category then called Best Foreign Language Film for The secret in their eyesplayed by Ricardo Darín, the same protagonist of the film who will represent our country.
Only one other Argentine filmmaker has won that award from the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts: Luis Puenzo, con The official story (1985), starring the great Norma Aleandro.
