The Teatro Colón will launch its 2023 season with Resurrection, Symphony No. 2 by Gustav Mahler which will serve as a tribute to the 40th anniversary of the return to democracy which will be celebrated on 10 December this year.

The big names of the 2023 season
With a total of eleven titles (two will be released in concert version), the opera season will open with Fausto on 14 March. Another local production is Madama Butterfly, which will be staged on November 7 (nine performances), Puccini’s opera will be alternately directed by Jan Latham-Koenig and Carlos Vieu, directed by Livia Sabag, and a cast led by Elena Stikhina, Riccardo Massi, Guadalupe Barrientos and Leonardo Neiva.
Finally, La ciudad ausente, by Gerardo Gandini, the last title of the season, in two performances starting from 5 December, with the musical direction of Christian Baldini and the theatrical direction of Valentina Carrasco. The cast will be led by Oriana Favaro, Sebastián Sorarrain and Alejandro Spies.

Among the novelties of the season the Rachmaninov Festival, where his concerts for piano and orchestra will be developed in a complete way, with Nelson Goerner as soloist and the Philharmonic Orchestra and under the direction of Srba Dinić; and a cycle of Baroque music, with the presence of Cappella Gabetta Consort, Vivica Genaux & Bruno de Sá and Cappella Mediterranea.
Tribute to Luis Alberto Spinetta. As part of an extraordinary concert, “Flaco” will be remembered after the fiftieth anniversary of the release of Artaud, one of the most emblematic records of Argentine rock.
Colón for boys continues to add proposals with Frayed Songs, Concert for boys on melodies by Erik Satie and during the winter holidays will present two shows set in the missionary jungle, which propose to rediscover their stories and legends through the Baroque music of the time.
