Football fans who don’t want to miss a minute of the action of their favorite team are in for a treat: BMW he confirmed it the iDrive system of your 7 Series it will take the multimedia experience to another level and will offer live Bundesliga matchesthe powerful local tournament of the German first division.

The novelty was possible thanks to an agreement between the company and the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL), responsible for the most important categories of German professional football. It will be through an app of its own BundesligaThat In addition to passing matches, it will allow you to get acquainted with all the results, see summaries and get additional information about each team..

To access this service, it will be necessary to activate the personal eSIM card in the car, and thus have 5G coverage which will allow you to receive live broadcasts on the 14.9″ curved screen positioned on the dashboard. And although BMW doesn’t specify it, it makes sense that it could also be played on the huge 31.3-inch 8K cinema screen optionally offered in the BMW 7 Series for the rear seats.

It is that, as you can also imagine, the idea was not really designed for the driver of the vehicle to enjoy, who must be focused on what is happening on the road. Indeed, the application only works if the BMW 7 Series is stationary; while it is running, the video of the broadcast is disabled and only audio is heard, just like a radio.

The proposal is currently in the pilot testing phase as well only available for Germanyalthough it is expected that in the coming months it will spread its wings and reach other markets in Europe, America and Asia.

At the moment it is not known if in the future the service could be extended to other leagues or competitions in other countries, or if it will be available for other models of the brand –such as the BMW 5 Series which will go on sale at the end of the year–. However, something that is expected for the next phase is that it could be linked to BMW’s Level 3 autonomous driving technology, which would open the door to a whole new range of possibilities in terms of entertainment on the roof of a car.

How is the BMW 7 Series broadcasting the Bundesliga

It is customary for BMW to supply the latest technology available to the 7 Series, its flagshipand it is clear that the seventh generation of this luxury sedan, which went on sale in the northern summer of last year, does not escape this premise.

Inside, modern and luxurious, everything passes through the iDrive system: it equips the 8.0 version and is the operational center of the entire experience on board a 7 Series. But the highlight are the screens, including those on the side panels, the 12.3” dashboard and even a Head-Up Display system on the windshield itself, offering navigation with augmented reality.

However, of all of them, without a doubt, the most remarkable is the aforementioned found in the large rear sector: Theater Screen is its name, and it is an ultra-wide drop-down touch screen, in 32:9 formatwhich became the first to offer 8K resolution in the automotive market.

The intention to obtain a cinematic effect is total, and for this it accompanies the rest of the passenger compartment, which changes configuration once the screen is turned on: the window and sunroof curtains close automatically and the ambient lights are dimmed.

To top it off, the system has Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound and incorporates the 4D audio function, i.e. it is linked to the car seats to supplement what comes out of the speakers with vibrations and other effects.

Outside of the BMW 7 Series is not far behind. It is a robust and modern car, which is distinguished at the front by the huge double kidney grille and the split optics: above, almost at the height of the bonnet, the well-designed LED daytime running lights, while below, conventional headlights are located separately.

In mechanical matters, the car also surprises with a diverse lineup. The most important is certainly the i7 xDrive60 model, an electric motor with 258 HP front engine and 313 HP rear engine for a total of 544 HP, 100% without combustion. But there are also hybrid alternatives, which join the new generation of BMW TwinPower Turbo 3-litre, in-line 6-cylinder block.

Thus, for example, a diesel variant is offered as an entry-level model, the 740d xDrive, which uses 48V Mild Hybrid technology to deliver 300 HP of power and 670 Nm of torque. And as for petrol, there are two options: the 750e xDrive, plug-in with 490 HP, and the powerful M760e xDrive, which reaches 571 HP and 800 Nm.
