What he wrote about the networks

At last Sunday’s Grammy ceremony, Madonna presented the performance of Kim Petras and Sam Smith. “It was an honor for me to introduce Kim Petras and Sam Smith to the Grammys. I wanted to present the last award of the night, which was for album of the year, but then I thought it was more important to present the first trans woman who performs at the Grammys – a historic moment! And on top of that he won a Grammy.

“But instead of focusing on what I said in my speech, which was about acknowledging the bravery of artists like Sam and Kim, many people have chosen to talk only about the close-ups they have taken of me with a news photographer’s telephoto lens that would distort anyone’s face.

“Once again, I’m captured by the anti-aging gaze and misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women over 45and feels the need to punish her if she continues to be strong, hardworking, and adventurous.

I never apologized because of any of the creative decisions I’ve made or the way I look or dress, and I won’t start now. I’ve been belittled by the media since the beginning of my career, but I understand this is all a test and I’m happy to pave the way so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come. In Beyoncé’s words, “They won’t break my soul”

I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior, pushing boundaries, resist patriarchyand above all enjoy life.

Get on your knees bitches!”
