A real boom is the Film Festival, which kicked off this Sunday February 12 and, for three consecutive days, allows access to previews and reruns for $450 a ticket.
To get an idea of the extent of the success, we will give some examples of the films that had the greatest impact this Sunday, compared to the audience they had brought in the “normal” days of last weekend.
And let’s remember that today, Tuesday 14 February, Valentine’s Day, a good outing is always going to the cinema…
The film that is doing best on billboards across the country is Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, the animated film in which Antonio Banderas lends his voice to Shrek’s partner. Well, of the 115,335 tickets sold Thursday through Sunday, more than half (59,249) were sold on Sunday, when the $450 promotion kicked off. On Saturday, which is historically the day with the largest crowds in theaters across the country, 23,742 moviegoers saw it.
The second in the choice of the public for this Sunday – and therefore for the weekend – was Avatar: The Path of Water. But James Cameron’s film on Sunday almost tripled what he had collected on Saturday: 45,200 against 16,496.
And it was republished by the director himself, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his local premiere titanic. And there were many who preferred to see the three-hour film in theaters and not in their armchairs at home (Telefe broadcast it for the umpteenth time in the afternoon). 22,249 spectators paid for the ticket, compared to 25,240 between Thursday and Sunday.
Oscar movie
And curiously, or not so much, those titles that aspire to win the Oscar for best picture this March 12, have improved their sales, but not as much as they have, with the exception of Avatar: The Path of Water. tarwhich premiered this Thursday, starring Cate Blanchett as a troubled manageress, sold 2,243 tickets on Saturday and 3,388 on Sunday – 50% more.
the spirits of the island, starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as two friends in 1920s Ireland who fight, was watched by 2,089 on Saturday and 2,666 on Sunday. AND The FabelmansSteven Spielberg’s autobiographical film has just changed the order of its numbers: 2,093 on Saturday, 2,309 on Sunday, only 10% more.
And there are exclusive reruns around these dates, like Minions: a villain is born, Jurassic World: Domination, Top Gun: nonconformist (Oscar nominee), light year, DC League of Super Beasts, Black Adam and the national Manager.
We remind you that the promotional price is valid for both 2D and 3D screening locations, and pre-sales are available on the sites and at the ticket offices of participating cinemas. What’s more, as anticipated, if the tickets are paid for with Banco Provincia or Conto DNI cards, you get a further 30% refund.
And there are discounts on ticket values for other formats. For example, in the IMAX, where they show titanicAND Avatar: The Path of WaterTickets cost $600. And they fly. And in the case of 4D theater programming, D-Box and Premium Class, the value is $830.
