American actor Richard Belzer, actor of Law and Order, has died

Actor and comedian Richard Belzer, who stood out for his character of John Much in the series, died this Sunday Law and order: SVU., as well as integrating the cast of the legendary Saturday Night Live cycle. The actor, who died at his home in Bozouls, France, was 78 years old.

While Belzer’s reps and family have not commented on his death, high-profile colleagues have confirmed his passing, including Jon Stewart, Marc Maron, and SVU producer Julie Martin.

It was comedian Laraine Newman who broke the news to audiences, writing lovingly about Belzer and their time together as comedians. when he first joined the cast of Saturday night live.

Comedy first

Belzer was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in August 1944 into a working-class Jewish family. After working various odd jobs in the Northeast, Belzer found himself in New York City as a young man seeking a career as a comedian.

He performed stand-up comedy and improvisation, gradually gaining recognition for appearing on television and in films. Even if never joined to the main cast of SNL, Belzer made three appearances on the show in the late 1970s and was also the warm-up comedian for the live crowd.

Some of Belzer’s early film roles include The Groove Tube, Fame, Café Flesh, Night Shift AND Scarface. However, his real success came in 1993 when he first established the role of John Munch.

Munch is rare among television personalities to have appeared in 11 different shows on six different networks, including several spin-offs from Law & Order on NBC, The X-Files on Fox, The Beat on UPN, The Wire on HBO AND Jimmy Kimmel live on ABC

In more recent years, Munch has even appeared in Indestructible Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix, as well as other comedies like Development stopped on Fox However, he is best known for his role on SVU, where he went from detective to sergeant and from investigator to district attorney.
