The dragons are comingbut we will still have to wait. This is what emerges from the statements of Casey Bloys, content manager of HBO and HBO Max, in relation to the new season of House of the Dragonprequel to that global success that was Game of Thrones.

Any precise dates for the return in 2024? “It’s okay to hypothesize it like this, but without a definitive date,” he said and escaped at the same time, in a chat with the magazine Variety.

And still puzzling, he adds another clue: He says it’s “okay to assume” that the series will not compete for the 2024 Emmys (which reward the previews of 2023), thus reiterating that we will have to wait for “the new season of previews”, in mid-2024.

When faced with the specific questions of “when will it be the premiere?”, the Boss (the boss), as Bloys is called, explains the previous process until a success can be consumed on the screen…

“My philosophy is that the number one priority is to have a good script,” he says, “it’s not about having one premiere every year anyway. I insist, we’ll only do it when the scripts excite us.”

There will be more derivatives (spin off for industry) of that main shaft that is game of ThronesAS?

“You have to remember that until you get there House of the Dragon there was a whole previous process of developing the scripts, the pilots, until he convinced us,” says Bloys.

“Doing it again will require the same effort. You have to develop a lot of things, test things. You never know what will work. We are currently in that process. I am not against any serial number. There’s probably a natural limit to how many fans want, but I’m open to anyone as long as we feel good about the scripts and what’s next for a series.”

“It takes a while to find one that hits the mark,” he adds. “I know George Martin feels the same way. You want to make it one that everyone is really proud of and excited about.”

the future of succession

Speaking of spin-offs, what can happen succession?

“You already know: ‘never say never’. When we started talking about doing a prequel to game of Thrones, was something HBO had historically never done. Some people on our team were like, ‘This is crazy. What are you doing?’ That said, I think there’s something about George’s universe that lends itself to spin-offs…

“There’s a big story, so many different families, so many different wars and battles. I don’t feel like there’s anything to it succession where you would say, “Let’s follow this guy” or whatever. It doesn’t seem natural to me. But if creator Jesse Armstrong said I want to do it, then I’d follow Jesse’s lead.”

AND Guardian?

Bloys offers the same answer when asked if there will ever be another installment of Guardian, winner of an Emmy. But he has no interest in getting her back with anyone other than executive producer Damon Lindelof.

Guardian it was really his own creation,” says Bloys. “If he doesn’t believe there’s a story he wants to put his heart and soul into, it’s hard for me to think it’s worth doing.

“It was a very special limited series for us. I’d put him in the pantheon of HBO greats. If Damon wants to come see us again, he knows it’s an open door. But it’s hard for me to imagine making one without him.”

Nor is it said the revival of six feet below, which according to Bloys was never really in the works. Instead, a return to True blood with HBO developing some scripts, “but nothing came that looked like it did”.

Finally, the rumors about parasite

Still in development is director Bong Joon-ho’s television adaptation of his Oscar-winning film. parasitealthough “there is nothing new to report as of now,” says the boss.
