Benjamin Pope, the conductor of the Orchestra on this occasion, in improvised Spanish and aided by the cards introduced the concert and joked a lot. “Hooray, clap, boo, make a lot of noise,” encouraged the crowd that filled the Colón.

“Is there anyone from Gryffindor in the room?” Pope asked, mentioning one of the four magical houses of Hogwarts, and the Sorting Hat sent Potter there. “Hufflepuff? Black Crow? And, already in a sinister voice, “Slytherin”, which elicited the most deafening response in the room.

Benjamin Pope, in addition to having conducted international orchestras such as the London Royal Philharmonic, the Scottish National, the Berlin State and the Munich Symphony, has experience in concert film screenings. Furthermore Harry Potterdid it with Amedeo, titanic and the original trilogy of Star Wars.

So he knows how to handle audience anxieties and engage them.

The reactions of the spectators were not long in coming. As if it were a comedy, in which when an actor appears on stage for the first time, he is recognized, applause breaks out at the first image of Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and, above all, Emma Watson (Hermione Granger).

Subsequently, it was difficult to know or gauge whether the applause at the end of a scene was for what was seen on the 12-metre screen, or was directed at acknowledging the Orchestra.

The audience reacts, applauds, boos...

It is true that the soundtrack written by John Williams is full of great moments, in addition to the leitmotifs, which accompany and can be said to improve the situations of the film, the first of the saga and in which Potter discovers who he is, who his parents were and comes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the first time.

When he gets on the train with a smoking engine, the Hogwarts Express 5972, at platform 9 ¾, and travels by boat with the beginning students to the College, the Quidditch match… Everyone will choose his moment, his scene, and maybe their skin will rebel at the memory of how he experienced that same thing when he first saw it in the theater (or at home watching a DVD, or on cable or streaming).

Ovation. There were several moments where the hall erupted in applause.

Because more than 21 years have passed since the premiere of the film. It was in 2016 that the CineConcerts company and Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, the world concert tour celebrating the Harry Potter films.

The first Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone concert It was that year, and since then it is estimated that more than 3 million have attended. And the world tour will include more than 2,973 performances in more than 48 countries worldwide through 2025.

sold out

Clarification goes that tickets are completely sold out for the remaining functions, this Saturday at 10.30am and 8pm. And that prices ranged from $8,650 – the cheapest in the night performance – to $29,500, in the morning, with shipping included . It was thanks to the success of the night shows, last night and today, that this morning was added.

And the tickets flew like the movie characters on their magical broomsticks, playing Quidditch.
