The film All everywhere at the same time swept the independent film Spirit Awards by winning every category it was nominated for, eight days after the Academy Awards ceremony.
“The Daniels” -Daniel Kwan and Daniel Sheinert- film portraying the transformation from a troubled family mother to a multiverse-spanning heroine continues its journey as an awards season treasure.
It triumphed in all seven categories in which it competed: Best Film, Best Performance, Best Supporting Performance, Best Breakthrough Performance, Best Editing, Best Screenplay and Best Director.
“This is too much, thanks to everyone who makes weird independent films, those films change my life, thanks to the financiers for believing in these crazy films,” Scheinert said after receiving the grand prize.
Known as “the Oscars of indie”, The Spirit They only recognize films whose budget is less than $30 milliona fairly low figure by Hollywood studio standards.
Additionally, they must also have been screened at at least one independent film festival such as Sundance, Tribeca, Toronto or New Directors/New Films, to name a few.
This was the first edition where the awards were held with gender-neutral performance categories and actress Michelle Yeoh was the winner among ten artists nominated for Best Performance.
The winner also of the Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award faced Cate Blanchett (tar), Andrea Riseborough (To LeslieJeremie Pope (The Inspection) and Paolo Mescal (after sun), among other performers.
“I appreciate this award from the bottom of my heart, none of us would be here without our heroes, and ours was A24 (the production house), who believed in ‘The Daniels’ masterpiece,” Yeoh expressed.
Kwan and Scheinert’s film’s win at these awards, and Best Picture awards it received at other ceremonies, bolster predictions of its Oscar triumph.
