A thorough investigation

This was made possible through the efforts of journalist Roque di Pietro, who was aware of Feldman’s intensive search for unreleased live tapes of jazz legends and prior to the publication of a previous work by Evans- brought him tapes of these two recorded concerts by Melero.

“Roque is familiar with the work he does on Resonance from our previous album Bill Evans. I’ve heard that Melero has recorded various artists in Buenos Aires, including Bill Evans’ 1973 and 1979 concerts. . “

“Resonance got the tapes,” he added, “and it took a few years to get everything right. Possible honesty,” Feldman said.

The tapes are “in good condition and don’t require a lot of work in terms of audio dropout or noise, but do require some consistency,” said executive producer and project engineer George Klabin.

“Melero used to record shows where he played, many times in secret, so that eventually he would listen to them and study carefully how they were and what things could be improved; but he also kept those tapes as a souvenir, so there is a large collection of concerts recorded like this ”, explains journalist Claudio Parisi, who pointed out that the engineer“ perfected not only the recordings but also the way the recorders are kept ”.

Quite familiar with the history of jazz and the pianist’s discography, Feldman said these two recordings “represent Bill Evans at his best“and marked some peculiarities in the matter.
