‘Batgirl’ May Open in Theaters Before Coming to HBO Max

Warner Bros. rethinks strategy after the premiere of “Batman” and the drop in subscribers on Netflix

“Batgirl” could open in theaters before it hits HBO Max – Publicity/Warner Bros.

“Batgirl”, produced by Warner Bros. with a launch strategy directly for HBO Max, it could hit theaters according to a report by Puck (via ComicBook).

According to the report, Toby Emmericha longtime executive at Warner Bros., is reportedly considering a theatrical release for the film starring Leslie Grace.

The change would have been motivated by a new strategy presented by the former CEO of WarnerMedia, Jason Kilarwhich is reconsidering some decisions following the drop in Netflix subscriber numbers.

The success of “Batman”, by Matt Reeveswhich took in $750 million at the worldwide box office before coming to HBO Max and delivering massive viewership numbers on streamingcan also motivate change.

Also, releasing the film in theaters would dampen criticism that female characters like Batgirl have smaller releases, while “The Flash” and “Black Adam” will hit theaters.

Besides grace and Brendan Fraserthe list also has JK Simmons (“Introducing the Ricardos”), Jacob Scipio (“Bad Boys: Forever”), Rebecca Font (“Double Explosive 2”), Corey Johnson (“Morbius”), Ethan Kai (“Killing Eve”) round out the cast.
