But even before that brilliant solo tour, Fito had already had great successes, only in the voice of Juan Carlos Baglietto, which burst onto the national scene in 1982 and caused a strong impact. Those early Páez songs were nothing but Life is a coin, dagger by dagger, Acting for a Living, Trying to Grow Up and Crazy on the Carousel.

Before going solo, it should be remembered that Fito fulfilled a dream that perhaps he hadn’t even dreamed of: playing with Charly García, who summoned him for the presentations of the album modern clicks and the registration of Piano bar.

Almost 40 years alone

Without Baglietto or Charly around, Fito Páez then started his solo career, in 1984. That first album had the same name as the first autobiographical song to be released, and had hits like three needles AND the rumba of the piano.

The following album catapulted a barely 20-year-old Páez to national popularity: twistswho had another handful of monumental hits, such as I come to offer my heart, , 11 and 6AND ground wire. The official presentation, for example, was at Luna Park.

Before his third album, Fito allowed himself another immense pleasure: recording la la la (where did it part of the air) together with Luis Alberto Spinetta, another of his heroes. He has also released an EP with the participation of Caetano Veloso, and before that he played with Litto Nebbia. By the age of 23 he had played with his main idols and musical influences.

Since then, every step of Fito’s life has been documented in songs on the records he has cut with astonishing regularity, not just in the 1980s when it was customary to release one album a season, but even today, where he could release a trilogy as soon as two Years ago.

It was a tremendously visceral snapshot of his reality city of poor hearts, composed as a catharsis after the tragic deaths of her grandmother and great aunt, killed by a mentally challenged fan. That’s where they come from People without swing, Violet Amber AND whirling in the air.

Crisis and popular rebirth

Perhaps due to the impatience of record companies, his album Ey! did not have the expected sales and was left without a contract, despite having recorded new hits such as Only the boys, fake tattoos AND give me a talisman.

Angry at the lack of support, the man from Rosario threatened to leave the country, but his cycle “Chapa y pintura” revitalized him and began to shape the material of Third World, still without publisher’s seal. But she bet big and won, with such musical force that new songs by him (It was love AND give joy to my heart) returned him to the top of popularity.

The crowning glory of Páez’s boom came with the following work: Love after lovewith themes like Brilliant on the mic, One dress and one love, Graves of glory, Two days in the life, To roll my life AND the magic wheelwhere he had luxury guests such as Charly García, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Andrés Calamaro, Fabiana Cantilo, Celeste Carballo and Mercedes Sosa.

Always inspired, unaware of the concept of composition block from which many authors suffer, Fito continued circus beatWhere was it technicolor butterfly.

Towards the new century

In 1999, after a live album and a project with Joaquín Sabina, Fito returns to the fray with Abre, produced by the famous Phil Ramone and with hits such as By the side of the road, Two in town and lucky star.

The new century has found it as always: composing. That’s how he launched a new series of albums with new singles, such as Sun King (The devil in your heart), the extraordinary nature blood (beautiful aprilwith Spinet), The world is in a song (That thing you bring there), Rodolfo (If it’s love) AND Trust.

Meanwhile he also found time for two live albums (my life with them AND I don’t know if it’s Baires or Madrid) and a version project (Fashion and People), as well as his second feature film: Whose is the garter.

The last decade

During the last decade, Fito Páez has enjoyed his popularity with big shows in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Spain and even the United States. Always without stopping his compositional march.

In 2012 he celebrated the twenty years after love with an international tour and a live album, until the next launch Sacrifice AND dreamy rosary only for iTunes and continue with Rock and roll revolution, total madness with Paulinho Moska, and The liberated city with shots hallelujah in the sun AND Your life my life.

Unstoppable, in 2019 he made The Conquest of Space and then the trilogy The Wild Years, Futurology Arlt AND The golden light.

Today, Fito enjoys renewed anger for Love after lovewhich constitutes his new world tour and will now take him back to Vélez, but without a doubt – judging by his past – that this is “only at the beginning” and there are still many hits to come.
