Nelson Aguirre, Pablo Tamagnini and Diego Granadè played the match of their life in the shirt of the Conga. And with that of the quartet. They were clear. Just like Fabian told him in the locker room bean Cubero before the show, in an ingenious video played on the giant screens of the stadium Velez.

And the natives of Villa María paid handsomely: they shone on stage and gave their audience a show that will remain marked forever.

During two hours of an impressive show without respite, the Cordovan singers shed their skin on the stage, as did the players of the Argentina national team three months ago in Qatar.

Maneuver of fate, it fell to La K’onga on March 18 to raise the flag of its kind. “Quartet Makes History”, was the phrase that was read, heard and even breathed in Buenos Aires in the days leading up to the recital. At the end of Saturday, that slogan transformed and became “The quartet made history.”

Because the quartet didn’t stop for a second to make their fans dance and rave: more than 40,000 souls of all ages who raved on the pitch and in the audience with an endless series of successes.

21:30 was the appointed time for Nelson, Pablo and Diego to appear on stage. Dressed in black and grinning from ear to ear, they embraced and unleashed the dance with “If You Say Yes”the song in which the three put their vocals.

“I have to hang up” AND “I need to see you”interpreted by the always energetic Diego Granadé who inflames the audience with his harangues, they were the prelude to receiving the first of the six luxury guests that the evening had.

Damiano Cordovaanother great connoisseur of the genre, he was the ideal companion (“brother”, as they call each other) to imbue the power of “You are lost my love”. Intense body movements and knowing glances between the two ended up forming a perfect cocktail.

Later Nelson’s famous ukulele appeared, the one that he always throws to the audience after playing the first chords of “Not anymore”one of Pablo’s most emblematic themes, which he continued with another of his most recent: “It doesn’t go away.”

But if we talk about emblematic themes, there is one that has no rivals if we review the two decades of life that the band has led. “The cabin”released in 2005 has lasted playing at any prom and wedding party.

At that crucial moment, one of the trumpet players took center stage and the first sounds were met with a huge roar from the audience. “Will you come with me?” asked the charismatic Nelson, who was infecting people with his swing. And the inevitable little step characteristic of the song was not missing.

After half an hour without brakes, the first greetings arrived. “Very good evening, Buenos Aires. How nice to start like this. We are building our first stadium, the quartet is making history,” Nelson exclaimed with a smile that he didn’t turn off all night. There was a (big) reason. “It’s been 20 years fighting and rowing”he recalled excitedly. And the ovation was not long in coming from all four parties.

Nor were the outright screams when Pablo spoke. “I’ll take it for myself,” he replied moved. “Thank you for standing up for our music everywhere. Hold on to the music, hold on to the quartet and hold on to La K’onga,” exclaimed the former Operación Triunfo, before singing “I already found out”a moment that served as a joke from his partner Nelson as they danced: “The stage is great.”

Another exciting moment of the evening was when the accordionist Alan Gomez played the Argentine anthem. Behind, on the screens, the Argentine flag and colors were waving. It was a minute that many of the fans needed to grab their cellphones and start filming that unique postcard.

Before a stellar apparition, night left darkness for a while and turned into day as thousands of cell phone lanterns were lit for “The night without you”. A capella, Nelson took a postcard that will be kept – as he said – for life. The emotion reached its peak when he let the audience sing the chorus.

That little peace and quiet continued for a few seconds. “We’re going to give him a song called ‘Mira’. I really like it, so I’ll take the opportunity to enjoy it tonight. I dedicate it to my son Dante,” said Diego, as the almost 30-year-old boy followed from the seats with his family who burst into tears of emotion.

More guests and a luxury closure

Nicki Nicole, a point of reference for local urban music, did not want to miss the konguera festival and composed the quartet version of “Otra noche”. The flashes didn’t take long to appear and the younger ones were delirious with the interpretation.

An hour and a half of the show had passed (flying) up to that point. No one in the audience was able to check the time or reply to a WhatsApp message. They didn’t want to miss a second of what was to come.

And more when an international figure appeared. With a very cancerous appearance, Christian Castro entered the track to cover his song “Yo quiería”, accompanied by Nelson. Faithful to his bold style, the famous Mexican singer even dared to take a few cuartetero steps. And approved.

Another of the artists who could not miss on such a special evening was Nahuel Pennisi. Like other opportunities, the musician was very confident with LK. and so it came “Parallel universe”, first with a guitar solo and then with the whole band. It was one of everyone’s most anticipated songs, as it catapulted the band onto the big music scene – its video recently surpassed 125 million views on YouTube.

The closing was full of color and warmth. The last to participate in the 20th anniversary celebration were the rag pickers Luck Ra and Emanuel Noir (Ke characters) sing with Diego “Don’t come back again”. The trio revolutionized the fans and caused a total roar throughout Vélez.

Among endless fireworks, “I would lie to you” AND “The Same Air” They put an end to a dream night. Supported by 12 capable musicians and a great staging that left no detail to chance, Nelson, Pablo and Diego demonstrated -once again- that the success that accompanies La K’onga is no accident.
