kiss performed at the Arena da Amazonia in Manaus as part of his farewell tour titled “End of the Road” and had to overcome a major mishap in the middle of the show: the group had to interrupt the concert and Gene Simmons continued to play seated because it had been decompensated by the heat.
At one point in the show, the bassist and singer had to sit down to continue playing. Afterwards, the musician was assisted by his staff, who brought him a bottle of water and a towel.
The details
In the midst of the unexpected situation, singer Paul Stanley took the microphone and announced to the audience that they would stop for about five minutes: “We’re going to have to stop and take care of him, because we love him, right? Let’s give Gene a strong ovation!”
According to the Brazilian press, Gene Simmons would have been affected by the high temperatures of the place and that would have brought him down.
As he himself later explained, it was dehydration due to high humidity and temperature. He told it on his social networks the next day:
“Come on guys! It’s no big deal. Thank you for your kind wishes. Last night we played Amazon Arena in Brazil in the jungle. The humidity and temperature were sky high. I was dehydrated and forced to play sitting on a song We were back on stage in 5 minutes and finished the concert.”
As published by the Brazilian media G1, Simmons himself asked one of his assistants during the Kiss show to bring him a chair to play sitting.
Responding, the bat-suited bassist told the crowd, “Wow, so good! Thanks.”
New visit to Argentina
The Kiss tour will continue through Latin America in the coming weeks. It will be presented first in Colombia, then in various parts of Brazil and on April 28 it will arrive in Argentina as part of the Masters of Rock festival.
The announcement came in January, when the production house Ake Music published the phrase on its social networks: “The most important international rock festival in the world is here!!!”, together with a flyer of the event.
The festival will be in the Parque de la Ciudad e Kiss, Scorpions, Deep Purple, Helloween and Avantasia will play.
As Gene Simmons said in a recent interview with Clarín: “I’ve always loved Argentina (he pronounces it in Spanish) and it has to be said right: Ar-gen-ti-na. I like the culture, the food and the girls No, it can’t get any better. We have wonderful memories of Argentina, but this time will be the last visit, seriously.”
Regarding their last show, he added: “On December 2nd we played Madison Square Garden in New York and it will be the last show Kiss will play on the entire planet. And that’s a good thing, it’s not a sad thing. All great. things come to an end and after 50 years I think that’s enough, right?”
