In an interview conducted in 2020, Costner said, “For me I love my job, but it’s not the most important thing in my life. That seat is occupied by my family. That’s why I always have to think before committing to a project, because I know it will take time.”

And he went further: “People know me from my movies or from the interviews I give, but I’m not that person. I don’t talk business with my kids unless they ask me to and the same goes for my friends.” It’s just that when I’m not shooting I don’t see myself as an actor until someone reminds me.”
