An unknown artist by name ghostwriters uploaded the theme to digital platforms Heart in handWhat appears to be a collaboration between Drake and The Weeknd. However it was generated by artificial intelligence and caused a sensation over the past weekend, with hundreds of thousands of listeners. And as Ghostwriter wrote, “This is just the beginning.”
The mysterious Ghostwriter gave no clues about how he put the song together or what information he fed the computer to generate the song, which runs for two minutes and sixteen seconds. He even mentions The Weeknd’s courtship with Selena Gomez, since the lyrics say, “I walked in with my ex like Selena to flex / Bumpin’ Justin Bieber fever ain’t gone away.”
Earlier this week, the song was garnering enough plays and views to chart which will be released next week.
However platforms have started to remove the topic, presumably under pressure from the Universal Music Group label. First it stopped appearing on Tidal and Apple Music, and on Spotify it was grayed out and unplayable. So far it remains only on YouTube and there is no longer an official Ghostwriter account.
What surely started out as a diversion hasn’t done any favors for record companies or artists, who feared the trend was becoming a new fad.
In fact, Universal Music Group called on major streaming services last week to stop AI companies from doing impersonations.
Commenters on YouTube agree that the version is highly believable and could be a hit for Drake, who posted a story with the line “That was the last straw, Artificial Intelligence.”
industry shock
Universal Music distributed a statement explaining how it will react to AI-generated songs, but made no reference to Ghostwriter or the subject. Heart in hand.
“A large part of Universal Music Group’s success – he says – has been embracing new technologies and using them in favor of our artists, even using artificial intelligence. But we know that training AI programs using the music of our artists is copyright infringement“.
He added: “The question of the moment is which side everyone wants to be on: on the side of artists, fans and creators of human expression, or on the side of copycats and frauds that leave musicians without compensation. the ethical and legal responsibility lies with the platformsbecause only they can prevent abuses that harm artists.”
David Ghetta’s background
Just a few weeks ago, the David Ghetta posted a clip where he appears on a show passing a song with Eminem’s voice, but which was generated by artificial intelligence. “Obviously I’m not going to launch it commercially,” she said on her social media.
