Margot Robbie will play Barbie in the live-action Mattel doll – Disclosure / Paramount Pictures

Warner Bros. released the first image of Margot Robbie (“The Suicide Squad”) featured as Barbie in the first live-action film adaptation of the Mattel doll. The record shows the protagonist in her pink world posing in her famous car.

In addition to the official image, the studio confirmed during its panel at CinemaCon that the feature will premiere in theaters on July 21, 2023, the same date as the release of another highly anticipated production: “Oppenheimer”, a historical drama directed by Christopher Nolan.

Directed by Greta Gerwigfrom “Little Women” and “Lady Bird: Time to Fly”, the feature has a star-studded cast, including Ryan Gosling (“La La Land”), Issa Rae (“Insecure”), Michael Cera (“Juno”), Will Ferrell (“Eurovision”), Simu Liu (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”), Kate McKinnon (“Ghostbuster”), Alexandra Shipp (“Tick, Tick… Boom!”) and America Ferrera (“Superstore”).

The actors Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Connor Swindells (famous trio from the “Sex Education” series), Emerald Fennell (“Beautiful Vengeance”), Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Ritu Arya and Jamie Demetriou will also be part of the project.

Greta Gerwig and your husband, Noah Baumbach, from “Marriage Stories”, write the screenplay for “Barbie”. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources indicate there is a meta-language aspect.
