A Konex Classical Music Festival is coming, dedicated to Johannes Brahms and the great gypsies

From Thursday 4 May, the Konex Foundation presents the 8th Konex Classical Music Festivalwhich will be dedicated to Johannes Brahms and the great composers of gypsy music.

For four days, Konex Cultural City will once again be a stage for classical music, featuring world-class artists and venues accessible to all audiences.

The opening on Thursday

The opening, Thursday 4, will be with the Symphonic gala dedicated to Brahms, in which the Konex Festival Orchestra performs under the direction of Mtro. Carlos Vieu and with the presence of the pianist Antonio Formaro.

Undoubtedly, the execution of the Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 and the Symphony no. 4. Bizet will also be part of the program with instrumental pieces of his famous ones Carmen.

On Fridays

Friday 5 the Bellisomi Ensemblea string ensemble, together with Tamara Benítez on piano and the renowned mezzo-soprano Alejandra Malvino, to realize the Gypsy Gala.

A special mention deserves for this day the presentation of a great promise of the violin, Joaquín Orellano, a young virtuoso who stands out for playing a rich and complex repertoire.

He will perform works by Saint-Saëns and Sarasate. Also participating is Marcos Carreras, a small 9-year-old student, who will perform together with his teacher Rafael Gintoli, an eminent musician and exceptional educator, trainer of great Argentine artists.

This evening’s repertoire also includes works by Brahms, Dvořák, Bizet, Bartók, Falla, Monti and Haydn, among others.

Saturday

Saturday 6 will be the turn of ballet gala. The Buenos Aires Ballet company presents itself under the artistic direction of Federico Fernández, with choreography by him and Emanuel Abruzzo.

Federico will dance with Camila Bocca and Prime Figures of the Permanent Ballet of the Teatro Colón and the BAB.

Divided into two parts, it will first present choreographies for a selection of works by Brahms and, in the second part, for works by Minkus, Pugni and Liszt.

Closing Sunday

Sunday 7 corresponds to the closure of the festival with the Symphonic gala dedicated to Dvořákin which the Konex Festival Orchestra performs again under the direction of Mtro.

Carlos Vieu, on this occasion, with the presence of the cellist José Araujo. The highlights will be the Concerto for cello and orchestra and the Symphony no. 9 “New World”. Verdi will also be part of the program with an instrumental version by the Gypsy Choir of The Troubadour.

The program ends with a children’s show conceived by the musician Damian Rovner. Furthermore, Nacho Salerno will guide the students on a journey through the gypsy culture and the music of the Bellisomi Ensemble.

there will be a fun didactic concert with famous works by Brahms, Bizet, Saint-Saëns, Dvořák, Bartók, Sarasate, Falla and Monti, among others.

The young violinist Joaquín Orellano and the student Marcos Carreras will be part of this musical “landscape”, attractive and stimulating figures for the younger ones.

The features of this show are presented free of charge and exclusively for students of public elementary schools in the city of Buenos Aires.

The previous editions of the Konex Classical Music Festival have been dedicated to “Great Masters” (2015), “Mozart” (2016), “Beethoven” (2017), “Bach, Vivaldi and the Baroque” (2018), “Chopin and the Romanticism” (2019), “Tchaikovsky and the Russian school” (2021) and “Verdi, Wagner and opera” (2022).
