George Rial He had a “cardiac episode” and was hospitalized in the last few hours in Colombia, a country where he was on vacation. This was confirmed by his daughter Morena Rial, who rushed at dawn this Sunday with her sister Rocío Rial to be with the 61-year-old driver and journalist, who has transcended that he remains “stable” in a therapy room intensive.
“How much is known to the public that my father suffered a cardiac event, and is hospitalized. I ask for your discretion on the matter,” Morena wrote on her Instagram account.
Furthermore, he thanked the concern expressed to him for his father’s health and assured that as soon as he had more information, he would share it “directly”, presumably, through the same means.
According to journalist Ángel De Brito, Rial’s daughter told him that “this episode is worse than the previous ones it has had” and that they were able to communicate directly with him.
“He sent us some audios and we were able to talk to him. Then everything got worse,” the LAM driver posted on his Twitter account.
Jorge Rial’s health story
In late 2022, Rial retired from broadcasting before the end of his radio show, Argenzuela, due to a health complication. The driver, who was not feeling well, said before leaving: “I’m destroyed, I can’t go on like this”.
“I caught cold, I don’t know… I don’t know if it was the air conditioners, the weather changes or what. I’ve been like this for two days. I’m a disaster. Today I was also a busy day yesterday,” he said Rial. , who explained that his “voice is taken” and that the sudden changes in temperature of the last few days have played against him.
Just over two years earlier, in October 2020, he was absent from Intruders, a program he was still hosting, and had to go on the air from his home to clarify the reasons. To that effect, he said he was serving time off due to a cardiac episode.
“I didn’t feel well. It was a feeling of emptiness in my chest. Those of us who have had a heart attack know some symptoms. Pain in the head, neck… It was difficult for me to finish the programme. They didn’t see me well and they decided to call an ambulance,” Rial said at the time.
And he continued: “They did an EKG, which was good but with some doubts.” So, he contacted his personal doctor. “He saw it better… but they notice something strange. They see something strange, heartbeats with too many spaces. He tells me ‘what I see is strange, and right now I suggest you get a pacemaker. When I have heard the word, I continued to spin for a few minutes. I’ve already had a stent and everything that means. He told me he would continue to consult me if in doubt,” said Rial, who over the weekend following that episode he had a Holter monitor to monitor his heart and diagnose possible heart rhythm problems
“The doctors told me that the result was good and that the pacemaker was ruled out. The scare was on Friday, when I was worse from stress, a lot of work, the pandemic… But then they told me to do a catheterization, force my heart to work a little harder to see if what happened to me is something isolated or could repeat itself. I’ve already done two catheterizations. We were going to do this in the middle of the week but the doctors have now told me things are fine and catheterization would not be necessary. Luckily, because for me it refers to a shitty moment, when it was the stent,” he concluded.
