Andy Chango is a musician, writer and comedian. Now also an actor. Also best known for his speeches on behalf of recreational marijuana He is remembered for playing tennis against the number one enemy of the student centers: Eduardo Feinmann. He played and won.

“It’s been a while since I felt like an Argentinian or a Spaniard or a musician, writer, actor or River fan. When I was an asshole I wanted to be a rock star and get a lot of mine. Today, without anything happening, that’s enough for me. Happiness lies in not being disturbed… That and some clonazepam.”

-Have you seen the series?

-Yes, I saw her recently, three days ago.

-Do you like me?

-Look, the biopic is a genre I don’t like. To recreate a person when you don’t even know yourself… It’s one thing to have someone’s life that’s already dead and try to recreate it for another generation, for kids who don’t know the character in question. The Freddie Mercury thing, for example. With Mercury dead, the director has some freedom to invent an imaginary thought for young people who didn’t know him.

-But did you like it or not?

-I thought it was great. It’s not a small thing that so much is consumed and it’s also a series that talks about Fito, my dear friend. Everything seemed great to me, everything, actors, production, scenography, production. It was super fun making it and I think it’s a perfect product.

-From 1 to 10?

I can’t be impartial I’m as good as any Argentinian. There is such great affection that I can’t distance myself to evaluate anything. I’m not an actor. The scenes I did, for me, it was like they really happened. It was a multiverse I was Charly in, meaningless, and to me nonsense is something I love.

create an idol

-Are you aware that your role was very difficult? Charly is one of the last remaining icons. I mean, playing Fito Páez’s father is not like playing Garcia…

-Completely! If I was wrong, it was like desecrating the idol and you can’t even go to the corner. It was a huge pressure and I, well, I’m easy to overflow.

-How did you handle it?

-I didn’t manage it, it’s also inside Charly. Remarkable.

-Did they pay you well for such a “double stunt”?

-Psychic risk. And in my case, multiplied -she says and clarifies that she has just left the therapy session-.

-Were you inspired by Capusotto? Your Charly García has something of the character of Micky Vanilla…

-Capusotto’s character? I die laughing with him, but no, me I dealt with it by watching material, videos of the time. That parody of Capusotto is a parody today, but before it was a normal thing. Charly, in his polite poses, was a challenge for a time in a jacket and tie. I didn’t approach it as a parody, I approached it with absolute commitment and not to be taken as a joke.

Malice for good and for evil

-In the first contact your Charly sees, Fito is on TV, but it seems that the volume is low. Was it intentional? Could it be read as Charly’s “evil”?

-Charly had a malice that was applied for good and for evil. He was harmful. That side is incorporated into the series. I didn’t pay much attention to the scene, I tell you the truth: it was the second day of shooting and I still didn’t even know what tone of voice to use. I didn’t pay attention. I don’t know if he played his music. For me it was like announcing the arrival of Charly. That. Or maybe he was a ninguneo, I don’t know…

– Fabiana Cantilo came out to say that times were mixed. What could it be referring to?

-Look, for me the moment of magic was doing it. I’ll leave the subsequent analysis to the public and journalists. I already released…

-In the series, when Fito meets Charly for the first time in person, he kneels in front of García. Was it true?

-I don’t know the details. This is based on Fito’s biography which can be found in bookstores. I tend to think that’s the truth. I’m not a fan as much as you, once it’s a biopic, it’s fiction…

-Fito asked you to play Charly?

-He called me while I was enjoying my anxiety disorder a lot. She was better than ever and she dropped this bombshell on me…

-AND?

-Since I love him so much, I accepted. I knew he was crazy.

-You may have also played Fito…?

-Hahaha, playing Charly seemed impossible to me. Nobody can play Charlie. With that person with so much personality existing, replacing him in a country where he is idolized seems like suicide to me.

I’ll tell you what: I have my mustache from the series. The mustache has become decisive. I needed to try the mustache, It could not be otherwise. I sent for a prop and Oscar Mulet, the wizard of the trickHe took the right one and left it for me as a souvenir.

-Did you already have returns of your character?

Yes, very bright. I’m using networks now, of course, but I’m honestly not very aware of things. I try to live out of reality, but yes, they wrote to me from Spain, Uruguay… Things are happening.

-Does this line you up in an unexpected role as an actor?

My life is an unexpected role. Still, they tell me I’m ready to do different things and I’m excited to continue acting.

-Did Charly give you some kind of refund?

-No, I haven’t communicated with Charly for a long time.
