The Argentinian director, known for the series the simulators AND wild talesamong other series and films, premieres Misanthrope in Argentine theaters, his first production in 9 years, and today it was announced that he will be part of the jury of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival (from 16 to 27 May) and which will be chaired by Swedish director Ruben Östlund.
The competition, which already at the end of February had given its name to Östlund – which won two Palme d’Or, for the square in 2017 and for The triangle of sadnesslast year-, he presented this Thursday to the rest of the jury members in a statement in which he stressed that he is part of “a generation of artists who direct, who act, who sing, who write”.
The American actress will be together with the president and Szifron Brie Larsonawarded an Oscar for The room, and that she is Captain Marvel; the French director Julia Ducournau, winner of the Golden Palm at the same Cannes Film Festival 2021; French actor Denis Ménochet; Moroccan director Maryam Touzani; Anglo-Zambian director Rungano Nyoni; american actor Paul Dano (recently seen on The Fabelmans and what was it The riddle in the latest Batman) and the Afghan writer Atiq Rahimi.

The Argentine has made himself known internationally, especially with wild talesa film produced by Pedro Almodóvar which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best International Film, won a Goya, a BAFTA and more than 40 international awards.
The Cannes Film Festival, in whose official selection it was in 2014, noted that it was the most successful Argentine film of all time.
His latest film, Misanthropestarring Shailene Woodley, competed last week at the Beijing Film Festival, where Damián accompanied her.
This jury will be in charge of deciding who will win the Palme d’Or at this 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival among the 21 films in competition announced so far. A decision that will be announced on May 27 at the closing ceremony.
