Almost a year ago, Ricky Martin was faced with a situation he never could have imagined: his nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin, reported him for an alleged sexual violence that he would have suffered at the hands of the artist since he was eleven years old.

A complaint that Ricky Martin I wanted to ignore it at first as he was a member of his family, but could not let go of the insistence of the young man, who is now 21 years old.

The artist filed a complaint against the young man for extortionalso asking for damages. The nephew fought back, suing the artist again for assault, with the Court of First Instance of San Juan de Puerto Rico granting the singer a protection order against his nephew.

The counterclaim

Far from giving up, the young man sued Ricky Martin again, asking for 10 million dollars for damages caused by the accusation of “non-consensual sexual conduct” against him since the age of 11.

In this new counterclaim – which was presented this Wednesday, May 3 before the Court of First Instance of San Juan, but has not been disclosed to the media until this Thursday – a series of alleged non-consensual sexual encounters between the singer and his nephewhis sister’s son on his father’s side, Vanessa Martin.

Some encounters that, as detailed in this new lawsuit, allegedly took place in places such as the artist’s car when he went to pick up his nephew at the Sotero Figueroa school in San Juan. According to his testimonyRicky Martin “chased” the minortaking him to different places in San Juan without leaving the vehicle and in solitary places to “have oral and genital sex”.

“The non-consensual sexual relations continued after middle school and during the years when plaintiff Sánchez Martín was under twenty-one (21 years old). In subsequent years, telephone and social media communications between the parties intensified.” , details.

Why did you take him to court?

The counterclaim further alleges that “a year before filing a request for a protection order under the domestic violence law in court, the plaintiff here Sánchez Martin consistently warned Ricky Martin that he felt persecuted and asked him to stop his constant communications.

Apparently, since the Puerto Rican artist’s insistence has not ceased, the nephew has decided to take the case to court.

“Acts of non-consensual sexual contact with a minor, in addition to constituting a crime, caused enormous damage to Sánchez Martinwho had neither the maturity nor the legal capacity to consent to sexual acts initiated by an adult, in this case Ricky Martin,” concludes the counterclaim.

For all of this, Sánchez Martin indicates that “damages for this non-consensual sexual conduct are estimated at approximately ten million dollars and are liquid and payable at this time.”

The court granted the singer a protection order for stalking his nephew, extended by a year last November. His lawyer has already issued a statement on what the artist’s nephew wanted, assuring that the nephew’s allegations are part of a pattern of “harassment” against him.

“These claims are tremendously offensive and completely false and unrelated to reality,” the lawyer insisted. “This individual has a clear agenda that is the product of a sick mind that clearly needs help.”

In this new trial, Martin seeks damages amounting to 30 million euros, claiming that his nephew’s actions have caused him to cancel “million-dollar contracts and present and future artistic projects”.
