The American public has turned around in recent days to see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, which had a preview on Thursday 4 May and then a full day in 4,450 theaters. It has already raised $48 million. and placed first in the standings, dethroning him Super Mario Bros.which was released a month ago.
In showings the day before it opened, the new Guardians adventure earned a total of $17.5 million.
According to projections, in the first weekend, the third tranche is expected to raise about 100 million dollarsalthough according to the specialized media Deadline it would be between 110 and 120 million dollars.
Extrapolating how much it could end up grossing across its entire domestic theater stage, they estimate the figure would be between $288 million and $403 million.
Less box office than the previous ones
The figure of 48 million dollars seems very high, but in reality it wouldn’t make for the best gross opening for director James Gunn’s trilogy.
If what was planned comes to fruition, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would debut below Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2which had a $146 million opening weekend, but would have fared better than the first Guardians of the Galaxywhose debut grossed a total of 94.3 million.
Thursday and Friday’s US box office result is on par with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and is one notch higher than Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania AND Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Since 2019, after the spectacular Avengers: Endgame, Many Marvel fans believe that the movies have gone downhill, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 seems to have excited them again.
The new film closes a cycle for its director, and above all that of this unlikely group of characters who have been interacting since 2014 with a success that perhaps few imagined: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista ), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel).
