If in October 2022 Tim Burton assured that he is not interested in making a sequel to cockroach juice (1988), the horror comedy with Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton that brought him international fame after debuting with Pee-Wee’s Big Adventurenow that the continuation is a reality and Burton himself will be behind the camera again.
After several rumors about the possibility of a continuation of the gothic story created by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson, cockroach juice 2 will be released on September 6, 2024 and will once again see Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton in the lead roles.
They will be accompanied by Jenna Ortega and Justin Therouxas reported by Warner Bros. Ortega, star of merlinthe hit Netflix series created by Burton, will play the daughter of Lydia, Ryder’s character.
When does filming start?
Shooting for the film is expected to begin in the coming days in London and Plan B Entertainment, a production company co-founded by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anistonwill handle the production, while Mike Vukadinovich will write the screenplay.
In the original film, a recently deceased couple (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) are shocked by the arrival of a family (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones and Winona Ryder) at their old home, so they contact the twisted ghost Beetlejuice. (Michael Keaton) to pester the new tenants.
