Great pain invaded the world of entertainment in the early hours of this Thursday when the death of actor Guido Gorgatti was confirmed at the age of 103.
“It is with great sadness that we greet our longest-serving member, the actor Guido Gorgatti, who died at the age of 103. His career includes work in theatre, film, television, commercials and radio, distinguishing himself as a comedian and humorist. We accompany their loved ones in this difficult moment,” confirmed the Argentine Association of Actors and Actresses in an official statement.
Gorgatti born in Italyin Rovigo, a town near Venice, on December 5, 1919. At the age of 10 he arrived in Argentina together with his family and shortly after he discovers his vocation as an actor, even if he finds it a bit on the run from the noises of his belly in not very prosperous times.
“we were very poor. I saw my father cry because he didn’t have enough money,” he once said, referring to the moment he signed up for a snack at the Lavardén Children’s Theater.
In his native language, he told the teacher who received him at school that he wanted to be a comedian. “She was very amused and she took me right away,” he recalled her. The teacher was Alfonsina Storni.
From the age of 12 he began venturing into the radio environment. She made her debut in Municipal, and subsequently participated in cycles such as The Marilyn gang (famous for being a breeding ground for future stars), Pancha Rolon’s family, The Adventures of Carlos Norton, The Lightning, Corriente street, Mademoiselle Elise AND police patrol.
Gorgatti also worked as a sound engineer at Radio Belgrano and as a musician. Then came the cinema: Came to shoot about 30 films. Among the main titles in which he participated can be counted The flower arbor, The cicada is burning, Villa Cariño is on fire, live with joy, Mingo and Aníbal against ghosts, crime of corruption, the boys grow up, Rambit and Rambón first mission AND millionaires by forceamong others.
