what a beautiful moment this is happening Jennifer Lopez. She returned with and married the love of her life, Ben AffleckThey share their children from previous marriages and have been producing films in recent years. And she also has a documentary about herself (Half time OR half time), which Netflix released almost a year ago.
Born in the Bronx district of New York on July 24, 1969, she is a multifaceted artist who has made her way into the world of music as well as that of cinema, dodging clichés, taking advantage of her curves when needed, but making it clear that she is proud to be a Latina in the United States.
This Friday, May 12, Netflix will debut Mother, which coincides with the celebration, Sunday 14, of Mother’s Day in the United States. But it’s not a family film. It’s a thriller, in which her character, a deadly assassin, has to abandon her baby, lest they also prosecute her. It is not known whether she is the daughter of Gael García Bernal’s character or Joseph Fiennes.
From the early hours of this Friday you can find out in streaming.
There are actors and filmmakers from the Latin world who, when interviewed in an international rush, prefer to speak in the language they share with the journalist. It seems that Jennifer Lopez doesn’t like it, because the publicists organizing the ticket make it clear that it’s 5 minutes, that it should be in English and focus on the film, but she won’t bother answering More questions.
Spanish will not be the language in which we will ask you if you are at your best, both professionally and personally.
-Jennifer, what do you know about Argentina?
-What do I know about Argentina? I’ve traveled there a few times. It’s a beautiful country, with wonderful people and they have amazing food lol. But it’s been a while. I haven’t been there for a long time. I used to go for my music a lot, like when I started making music, and I never went back. How is it out there these days?
My castmate (Lucy Paez, who plays her daughter in the drama) told me that they have a winning soccer team (for the Argentina national team), so things are really good now!
-I thought and I don’t remember that you have played an action heroine like this in your career.
I’ve done action movies before, early in my career, but not where I was the star of the movie or the action “person”. I’ve been to very few. I did it money train (money train robberywith Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes), e out of the field of view (A very dangerous love storywith George Clooney) at the beginning of my career, but I was never the action star of the film.
And I don’t think we see that with women, let alone women who aren’t in their 20s or 30s. And even less with women who are, you know, “Latina” (she says in Spanish). So it’s really been a blessing to be able to land this role at this point in my career, and I’ve felt really empowered.
I was like “okay, I can do this. I’m strong, I’m athletic, I can learn these fight scenes. I’m going to fight, I’m going to train,” I’m going to learn how to shoot these guys. She is a sniper and a combat veteran. So all these things are very important. But what’s at the heart of the movie, more than all of those things I’ve told you, is that she’s a mother. This is what changes your life.
-You are a producer of “The Mother”, as you were also in your last films. Do you like to produce? What motivates you the most?
-I love to tell stories. My whole life is being creative like this and telling stories. And whether I’m writing a song, or making an album, or playing a role, or producing a film, it’s all, to me, the same kind of energy. Creative energy – gets excited -. And I love making films, because I love being involved from the beginning on a script level, or even earlier.
Having an idea and developing a script and hiring a writer and working with that writer and, you know, moving into the next stage of selling that script and knowing that there’s so much going on in the production that you become more than just an actor. You can really be part of the creative process and on a very deep level. So, it’s very satisfying for me to be able to produce.
And you can also choose the stories you want to make. You don’t have to wait for someone to call you and say, “Hey, how about this paper?” and wait and pray to Heaven that you can create it yourself. By producing you can make some kind of decision about your destiny. And this is also very enriching.
Ben Affleck, “an incredible husband”
Are you in the best moment of your career and your life?
I would say my life is pretty amazing right now. I love it. I love it. Look who I have to work with, I get to work with Niki Caro in this amazing film. Mother It’s the greatest film my company has ever produced. I have amazing kids and an amazing husband and everything is beautiful.
It’s really nice that I’ve reached a point in my career where I’m being offered a role like this right now. I mean, it’s pretty surreal in a way. I didn’t think, at this point in my life, my career, that was going to happen. And my next film is another action film.
You know, there’s something happening, a moment where we’re no longer locked “in a box”, because they tell you this is what you should do and this is how it’s done. It’s that at some point you won’t do these things anymore. I just think there are limitless possibilities of what you can do at any age. And I think it’s important for me to live as a person.
And there’s no time for more questions in these shortened zoom times and remote interviews.
-Thank you very much -Jennifer Lopez says goodbye, now yes, in Spanish-.
