Rodolfo Ermidaan outgoing figure in audiovisual production, directing and teaching, died this Sunday in Buenos Aires, aged 78. His remains will be veiled this Monday at the Buenos Aires headquarters of the National School of Experimentation and Cinematography (Enerc), an entity that has been able to lead. The cause of death is not known so far.
“With deep regret, Enerc salutes Rodolfo Hermida, whose name has been synonymous with tenacity and constant growth in the audiovisual industry. Director, producer, writer, teacher, lecturer, his life has been completely intertwined with his passion for cinema, television and teachingachieving an outstanding career as an audiovisual teacher,” the School said in a statement.
For this recognition, the Buenos Aires headquarters of Enerc, in Moreno 1199, was erected as a place to greet Hermida, this May 29 between 9 and 13.
The National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (Incaa) also expressed its regret this Sunday: “It is with great sadness that we greet to film and television director and producer Rodolfo Hermida, who passed away today at the age of 78. Rodolfo was director of Enerc and head of Educational Development at Incaa, where he was also head of the Bicentennial Program.”
To fire him, wrote the director Juan José Campanella Chirping:
“Rodolfo Hermida passed away, great master of cinema. In 1980, with a film he edited, he explained the editing of the documentary to us cut by cut Towards Paris. I have never learned so much in one class. my head exploded and there my love for editing was born. A goodbye hug, Rodolfo! Thanks so much for everything!”.
Other directors who have followed in his footsteps and his teachings have been Jorge Polaco and Pablo Cesar.
The directors of audiovisual works for television (Doat) also echoed the news, who declared on their social networks: “It is with great sorrow that we communicate that this morning our dear colleague and teacher Rodolfo Hermida passed away. We accompany the his family, friends, the entire audiovisual community”.
His work in film and television
At the cinema, Hermida served as an artistic consultant on the film Geronimo and, as producer and publisher, of three summers, both films by Raúl Tosso. He has also worked as an Art Director in films Keyboard, In the name of the son AND the lady returnsby Jorge Polacco. And, in the context of Executive Production, of the documentary Utopia huntersby David “Coco” Blaustein.
The vast and diversified trajectory of this referent of audiovisual culture included the impetus given to the Argentine and international conferences on independent cinema and video-Uncipar, active for 35 years.
In television he also worked in the Latin American division of the Italian RAI network and was director of special programs for Channel 13 and in 1992 received the Martín Fierro award for the best cultural educational program as director of the time capsule.
Also for the small screen, Hermida has dealt – as director and screenwriter – with the cycles the Argentinian monitor AND The scattered memory.
