matilda the musicalbased on Roald Dahl’s iconic book, it finally arrives in Argentina after its world premiere in 2010. It will begin this Thursday, June 1 at the Teatro Gran Rex, with a cast that includes Laurita Fernández as Miss Honey and Agustín “I am Rada” Aristarán as the fearsome Miss Tronchatoro.
Matilda also features the genre debut of Jose Maria Listorti, in the role of the girl’s father, and the always eclectic Fernanda Metilli in the role of the cruel and irreverent mother. There are three castes of children – who take turns to respect the rules of the Minority -, which are directed by Ariel Del Mastro.
From those three casts emerge the three Matildas who carry the story forward, alternating between performances and performances. Chosen from more than 400 candidates, Catalina Sofía Picone (10), Victoria Vidal (9) and Isabella Sorrentino (9) spend their afternoons in full rehearsal. In the middle of a photo session with clarionthey don’t stop playing with each other, posing, singing and dancing like Matilda… actually being Matilda.
Their families are close, as is the production, waiting for any need of the little future protagonists. With the same energy as when they posed, without ever losing the smile, with which they sat clarion to tell before the debut everything that is happening to them with this musical and how their lives will never be the same again.
