slap that Spider-Man: Into a New Universe for comic viewers, when it premiered in late 2018, it came as a surprise. A novelty that has come to show and demonstrate that graphic novels could be adapted in another way, with another style. That Spiderman it was like shelling for the eyes. He brought in, yeah, the multiverse theme, and now the sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Versedivided into two parts, it doubles the bet.
Behind it is the duo that composes Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, as co-writers and producers. (At the critics’ screening, they appeared welcoming and asked that nothing be spoiled; perhaps those prints will be the ones that hit theaters.) They are the creators of lego movieand here they have managed to create a story that can be followed without having seen the first animated Spider-Man, but which also has numerous nods to other Spider-Man -yes, to any you can imagine, and more-.
Because, of course, we’re in the multiverse. Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), the Hispanic teenager from Brooklyn, bitten by a radioactive spider, honed his powers. And if she’s driving, so is Gwen Stacy (voice of Hailee Steinfeld), the drummer and Spider-Woman in white. If there’s one thing all Spider-Mans have in common, whether they’re from the universe, Earth, or anywhere else, it’s something like karma, which has to do with the death of a character close to them.
Gwen’s father, a police captain, believes that Spider-Woman (he doesn’t know she is his daughter) is responsible for Peter Parker’s death. And comes the roll of the phrase from the first Spider-Man, that of Tobey Maguire, that “with every great power comes great responsibility”, actually taken from Churchill.
But that’s another story.

If the doubt that the trio responsible for directing the first has been completely supplanted by another trio, to tell the truth, this second film is more comical than the original, has much more humor and is less serious, or staid.
The number of new Spider-Mans – and Spider-Woman, some pregnant, plus some dinosaurs – expand the story, and there’s a supervillain who, yes, was in the first, but here’s introduced again. It’s La Mancha (Jason Schwartzman), who used to work at Alchemax and ended up genetically maimed by the collider implosion, because of Miles.
You guessed it, he wants revenge. He’s a white character with black ink stains (Gwen will laugh at him, wondering if he’s a cow) and can jump from one universe to another.
There are gadgets, a little more sophisticated than those used by James Bond, and an Arachnid Society, led by another Latin, Miguel O’Hara (voice of oscar isaac), a serious boy with scars that could be explained in the next adventure.
As requested by Lord and Miller, there are no spoilers here. Enjoy the two and twenty hours of the film, there will be more Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Versand, which is in post-production and will be released next year.
