Director even met with producer Amy Pascal but the meeting was disappointing
Tim Burton could have directed “Spider-Man”, a 2002 feature that ended up being directed by Sam Raimi.
The revelation was made by the screenwriter David Koepp, in a recent interview with Variety. Second Koepp, Burton confessed “be a guy who likes DC better” during a meeting with the producer Amy Pascal.
“I remember Amy [Pascal, produtora] telling me he had a meeting with Tim Burton, but midway through the conversation he told her he was more of a DC fan. That doesn’t sound like someone who was really excited to do this job.“, commented the screenwriter.
the own Amy Pascal added that “most of the directors came to meetings talking about camera angles and about creating technologies that would simulate Spider-Man swinging between buildings.“.
Avi Aradformer head of Marvel Studios, joked: “Some of them were really excited and told us that we should give them money and let them do what they wanted.“.
“Spider-Man” grossed over $825 million at the worldwide box office, earning two direct sequels in 2004 and 2007.
