‘The Hunger Games’ prequel book to be adapted for the big screen

“The Song of the Birds and the Serpents” movie will be released in 2023

Lionsgate announced during its panel at CinemaCon, an exclusive event for press and movie owners, that it is developing an adaptation of “Song of the Birds and the Serpents,” the prequel to the “Hunger Games” franchise. The film will hit the big screen on November 17, 2023 and will show how Coriolanus Snow began work on the Quaternary Massacre.

Based on the prelude book by suzanne Collins released in 2020, the film will be set 64 years before the first films about Kat niss ever deen and will show the first 10 years after the war, when the Hunger Games were still not popular in Panem.

In the story, Snow appears as a charming young heir to a traditional family in the capital, but who has been facing difficult times that are tarnishing his image. However, he sees an opportunity to change his destiny when he is chosen to mentor the new edition of the Hunger Games, even if it is to help a poor tribute from District 12.

In the franchise “The Hunger Games”, the cruel President Snow was played by the actor Donald Sutherland. The trilogy also featured Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Jena Malone, Jeffrey Wright, Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson.

The franchise, which completes 10 years in 2022, is composed of four films: “The Hunger Games” (2012), “Catching Fire” (2013), “Mockingjay – Part 1” (2014) and “Mockingjay – Part 2” (2015).
