Barbie, by Greta Gerwin; Poor Creatures by Yorgos Lanthimos; The Moon Killers, by Martin Scorsese, and Oppenheimer, by Christopher Nolan, were the films with the most mentions among the finalists in 10 categories that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced last night for the upcoming 96th Oscars ceremony.
Nearly a month before the full nominations were announced, the ten categories announced were: Feature Documentary, Short Documentary, International Feature, Hair and Makeup, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short, Live Action Short, and visual and sound effects, reported the international press.
The acclaimed film Greta Gerwig, Barbietopped the list with five preliminary mentions, including sound and original song with three nominations: What was I created for? From Billie Eilish, Dance the night away by Dua Lipa and I’m just Ken by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, and original music by the latter duo.
The Moon AssassinsScorsese’s film starring Leonardo Dicaprioobtained four preliminary mentions, while The color purple, Oppenheimer AND poor creatures They came up with three each.
Voting for the official nominations will take place from 11 to 16 January and the announcement will be made on the 23rd of the same month. The final vote will take place from February 22nd to 27th The 96th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 10 March.
